JOB SUMMARY:

The Human Resource Generalist will run the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Recruit, interview, and facilitate the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborate with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings
  • Conduct or acquire background checks and employee eligibility verifications
  • Conduct new hire orientation and administer the Bluberi onboarding program, working with managers to establish 30-60-90 day objectives
  • Review, track, and document compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and certifications
  • Perform routine tasks required to administer and execute Human Resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and engagement; occupational health and safety; and training and development
  • Handle employment-related inquiries from outside agencies (verification of employment), applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the Director
  • Attend and participate in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the Director
  • Administer employee recognition, spot bonus and employee gift programs
  • Participate in the planning and rollout of events such as holiday parties, pot luck lunches, birthday celebrations, etc.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; review policies and practices to maintain compliance
  • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by manager

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or other related field or equivalent work experience in lieu
  • Minimum of 3 years Human Resources experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment; knowledge of the casino gaming industry, a plus
  • PHR and/or SHRM-CP preferred, not required
  • High level of expertise with MS Office Suite and HRIS software
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism and confidentiality
  • Thorough knowledge of employment related laws and regulations
  • Self-starter, able to make autonomous decisions
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to speak French, preferred, not required

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is also regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
