Game Artist III

Reports To: Game Director 

Location: Moncton, NB 

Job Summary: 

The Game Artist III is responsible for the creation and amalgamation of all visual elements in a game. 

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: 

  • Under minimal supervision, creates quick sketch and concept art to explore visual ideas for a game; 
  • Under minimal supervision, helps create game packages including game logos, symbols, backgrounds, characters and associated animations, signage, and merchandising; 
  • Evaluates accurate timeframe for each task of the project; 
  • Creates high-quality game assets; 
  • Participates in the creation of game mechanics; 
  • Validates every game version, sharing feedback with studio members for potential improvements; 
  • Has a good knowledge of the design and mechanics of games; 
  • Imports and exports assets in Unity; 
  • Participates in brainstorming meetings and follows up on projects from start to finish; 
  • Works in collaboration with the studio, the other Game Artists, and the Director; 
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by manager. 

 REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: 

  • College diploma (DEC) or bachelor’s degree in visual arts or equivalent or relevant experience; 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Photoshop software, color balancing; 
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in the casino gaming field; 
  • Unity tool knowledge, an advantage; 
  • Ability to work in different art styles; 
  • Previous experience in a game development environment; 
  • Ability to create polished illustrations from sketch to final art; 
  • Ability to communicate in French and English; 
  • Good verbal and written communication skills; 
  • Good interpersonal skills; 
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail; 
  • Good time management skills with an ability to meet deadlines; 
  • Able to work independently and within a team. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is also regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; 
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus; 
  • Depending on the position, may have to travel locally, nationally or internationally.
